Good night is only for goodbye
في الإنجليزية، "Good night" ليستتحية. تقولها فقط عند المغادرة أو الذهاب للنوم. لتحيّة شخص في المساء، قل "Good evening".
In English, "Good night" is nota greeting. You only say it when you are leaving or going to sleep. To greet someone in the evening, say "Good evening".
إذا شعرت أن التحيّات الإنجليزية قصيرة وباردة مقارنة بالعربية — هذا طبيعي. الإنجليزية ثقافة مختلفة. القصر لا يعني عدم الاحترام.
If English greetings feel short and cold compared to Arabic — that's normal. English is a different culture. Being short doesn't mean being disrespectful.

لماذا يحدث هذا لك كناطق بالعربية؟
Why does this happen to you as an Arabic speaker?
في العربية عندما يسألك شخص 'كيف حالك؟' يمكنك قول 'بخير' فقط. في الإنجليزية لازم تقول 'I am fine' — كلمة 'I am' إجبارية. عقلك العربي سيريد حذفها لأن العربية لا تحتاجها. هذا طبيعي تمامًا.
In Arabic when someone asks 'كيف حالك؟' you can just say 'بخير'. In English you must say 'I am fine' — 'I am' is mandatory. Your Arabic brain will want to skip it because Arabic doesn't need it. This is completely natural.

في العربية عندما يسألك شخص 'كيف حالك؟' تقول فقط 'بخير'. في الإنجليزية لازم تقول 'I am fine' — الضمير 'I' والفعل 'am' إجباريان دائمًا. عقلك سيحاول حذفهما — هذا طبيعي.
In Arabic when someone asks how you are, you just say 'بخير'. In English you must say 'I am fine' — the pronoun 'I' and the verb 'am' are always mandatory. Your brain will try to skip them — that's natural.
بعد قول مرحبًا، يسأل الناس عادةً "كيف حالك؟". هذا سؤال شائع جدًا. إليك الطرق المختلفة لسؤاله والإجابة عليه.
After saying hello, people usually ask "How are you?". This is a very common question. Here are the different ways to ask it and answer it.

في الإنجليزية من المهذب أن تسأل الشخص الآخر عن حاله بعد أن تجيب. فقط أضف "And you?" أو "How about you?" في النهاية.
In English it is polite to ask the other person how they are after you answer. Just add "And you?" or "How about you?" at the end.
في العربية، 'كيف حالك؟' سؤال حقيقي تتوقع إجابة مفصّلة. في الإنجليزية، 'How are you?' غالبًا مجرد تحية — الإجابة دائمًا 'Fine, thanks' حتى لو لم تكن بخير.
In Arabic, 'How are you?' is a real question expecting a detailed answer. In English, 'How are you?' is usually just a greeting — the answer is always 'Fine, thanks' even if you're not fine.

"Good night" means goodbye in English. To greet someone at night, say "Good evening".
