Learn English from Zero — For Arabic-Speaking Beginners
Starting English feels difficult when you have never studied it before. You might not know where to begin, what to learn first, or how to practise. This page is your starting point.
Where Should I Start?
If you are a complete beginner, start with the alphabet and basic sounds. Learn how English letters are pronounced. Then move to simple greetings like “Hello”, “My name is...” and “How are you?”
Your first steps:
1.Learn the English alphabet and how each letter sounds
2.Practise saying greetings and introducing yourself
3.Learn numbers 1 to 20
4.Listen to simple English sentences with Arabic translation
What Makes English Different from Arabic?
Arabic and English are very different languages. Understanding these differences early will save you time and confusion. Here are the four biggest differences you will notice:
1.Word order is fixed
In Arabic you can say أكلت التفاحة (verb first). In English you must say: I ate the apple (subject first).
2.English uses a, an, the
In Arabic you say كتاب or الكتاب. In English you must choose: a book, the book.
3.The alphabet looks and sounds different
English has 26 letters written left to right. Some sounds like P and V do not exist in Arabic.
4.Verbs change with time
I eat (now), I ate (past), I will eat (future). Each tense has its own form.
