Asking Questions

In the last lesson, you learned to build sentences. Now you will learn to ask questions — the most important skill in any conversation.

What Questions
'What' هي أكثر كلمة سؤال تستخدمها. ستسمعها في كل محادثة.
'What' is the question word you will use most. You will hear it in every conversation.
ترتيب الكلمات في الأسئلة
Word Order in Questions
في العربية تضيف 'هل' أو تغيّر اللحن. في الإنجليزية، ترتيب الكلمات يتغيّر: الفعل يأتي قبل الفاعل.
In Arabic you add 'هل' or change intonation. In English, word order changes: the verb comes before the subject.
في العربية، تصنع سؤالًا بتغيير نبرة صوتك فقط: 'أنت طالب؟'. في الإنجليزية، لازم تغيّر ترتيب الكلمات: 'Are you a student?'. عقلك سيحاول صنع أسئلة بالطريقة العربية — وهذا يحدث لكل العرب.
In Arabic, you make a question just by changing your voice tone: 'You student?'. In English, you must change word order: 'Are you a student?'. Your brain will try to make questions the Arabic way — this happens to all Arabic speakers.

What + is + your name (verb required)
في العربية، السؤال بدون فعل. في الإنجليزية تحتاج 'is'.
Arabic asks without a verb. English needs 'is'.

"How much" للأشياء التي لا تُعدّ (المال، الماء). "How many" للأشياء التي تُعدّ (الأطفال، الكتب).
"How much" for uncountable things (money, water). "How many" for countable things (children, books).

هذا النمط يتيح لك السؤال عن العادات والتفضيلات.
This pattern lets you ask about habits and preferences.
'هل' مقابل 'Do'

في العربية تضيف 'هل' في البداية والباقي يبقى كما هو. في الإنجليزية تحتاج إضافة 'Do' وتغيير ترتيب الكلمات.
In Arabic you add 'هل' and keep the rest the same. In English you add 'Do' and change word order.

الإجابة القصيرة
Short Answers
للإجابة بنعم: "Yes, I do." للإجابة بلا: "No, I don't."
ترتيب كلمات الأسئلة الإنجليزية سيبدو غريبًا لفترة. هذا طبيعي — أنت تعيد برمجة عقلك. كل مرة تسأل سؤالًا بالترتيب الصحيح، عقلك يتعوّد أكثر.
English question word order will feel strange for a while. That's normal — you're reprogramming your brain. Every time you ask a question in the right order, your brain gets more used to it.
